Sugar in my bowl

June 9, 2010

”I love this old car”  Mandy said as she ran her finger tips along the edge of the roof of the rusted out Packard. Small flakes chipped away at the mere touch of her manicured nails.
“It’s like it represents the journey that Ben and I are taking.” she said more to herself than me.
“I couldn’t agree more.” I thought.  “No, I couldn’t agree more.”

There’s and old Japanese proverb that says “When you have completed 95 percent of your journey, you are only halfway there.” In other words this is one journey with a destination that can not be reached. And who would want to anyway? What better way to live than with the windows rolled down, your arm wrapped around the love of your life, and Nina Simone turned up on the radio…

I want a little sugar
in my bowl
I want a little sweetness
down in my soul

I could stand some lovin’
Oh so bad
I feel so funny
and I feel so sad

I want a little steam
on my clothes
Maybe I can fix things up
so they’ll go

Whatsa matter Daddy
Come on, save my soul
I need some sugar in my bowl
I ain’t foolin’

I want some sugar in my bowl

Love. Letter.

June 8, 2010

I received this this morning and my heart melted. Thank you Goodness.

Dear Clayton…

Canon in D plays, and those doors opened to the most wonderful day of my life. And you were there… more than a photographer, you have become such a part of this family. Our images are breathtaking, is that really me?
Your work is more than photography, the emotions behind every image comes from someone with a true love of what he does. You are an artist, with an amazing gift of capturing the romance in each and every client you photograph.
How will we ever thank you for working so hard, and for producing such fabulous images. You made this day amazing, and we will now have memories that will last a lifetime.

Our review of your work reads:

Clayton Austin Photography was hired by my husband and I to capture images of our Paris wedding. As a photographer myself it was important to me to work with someone who is a true artist and completly skilled in his field. His style of imagery fit in perfectly with our venue and his willingness to capture our “rock the dress” pictures after the wedding date was an added bonus. He worked hard to give us everything that we asked for and then some, producing once in a lifetime pictures that have now been featured on a few National as well as International blog sites. Clayton Austin Photography was/ is the perfect choice for those who desire something other than your run of the mill photographs. This artist was nothing but a shear professional and a pleasure to work with. Highly recommended for his talent and his desire to do everything he can to “get that perfect image” for his clients. Couldn’t have asked for anything better.
