“Mine” Part 2: My Packaging
February 1, 2011Many people think that their brand ends with their website or blog. I guess in some cases this may be true. But for me, my brand is an extension far beyond any dot com. In the earlier days I gave away the high rez images as part of my standard packages. Then one evening I was invited to a former clients home for dinner where they proudly displayed all the images that they had printed at wally world. To my dismay, and to no fault of my clients, wally world felt the need to color correct my white balance which resulted in very muddy images. It was then that I realized that my responsibility to my couples extended far beyond their wedding day. They simply didn’t know the importance of a calibrated monitor and quality printer. And that was my fault. From that moment on I no longer included high rez images in my standard investments. They could still be purchased but at a hefty fee. Instead they now receive a DVD of screen resolution images which allows them to share their images with friends and family via email, facebook and personal wedding websites but they are required to order prints through my studio. This one decision resulted in a huge shift in my print orders which was exactly my intention. Now I am able to insure that my couples receive beautiful prints just as they were intended. While it seems that most photographers these days focus on that one “epic” shot, I have always felt that my “epic shot” is not one single image but rather a series of images. That is why In lieu of a high rez DVD I have opted to include a beutiful album in all of my packages. This again allows me the opportunity to showcase their images in the way they were meant to be. Through a story. Their Story. My packaging has evolved over time and I am so excited to reveal my new and improved boutique packaging this morning. Please feel free to let me know what you think!
To start off, my albums are placed inside custom boxes with a gold letterpress stamp.

From there they are then wrapped in Kraft paper complete with burlap ribbon and jute twine. I found these amazing little bird nests at my
local craft store and knew they were a perfect finish. I use a punch to cut out the different tags and then hand stamp them with a custom stamp.
I finish each album off with a tiny paper bird in the corner.

I found the card stock and envelopes at a local paper boutique and fell in love with the texture. I then sew a small line across the bottom and
embellish each note card and envelope with another custom stamp. My favorite detail is a 150 year old embosser customized to my favorite
slogan, “Love is a bird”. Each envelope is then sealed with my custom wax seal.

My DVD cases, as well as my print boxes all bare the gold letterpress logo. The DVD’s are batch printed through this online resource. It was $48 for 100
custom printed DVD’s. 4×6, 5×7, and 8×10 prints are inserted into hand sewn kraft sleeves before being placed inside the boxes.
I use wood filament to keep the print sleeve snug inside the box.

11×14 prints are secured to foam board before being wrapped in kraft paper and jute twine. They are then finished with one of my favorite
details, paper flowers I found on etsy. Prints receive a different tag than the albums.
